Can I kill these yellow jackets myself?
Many times we are called to a home for yellow jackets after the customer has attempted to treat the pests themselves. While it is possible to exterminate a yellow jacket nest on your own this can lead to stings, and reoccurring infestation…. not to mention funny youtube videos.
A quick search will show people attempting to kill yellow jackets with water, fire, sticks, gasoline, household chemicals … and while these would be harmful to any living organism they are not a reliable way to eliminate a yellow jackets nest. Of course the same search will often show people getting stung by yellow jackets. All kidding aside yellow jacket stings can be very serious. Every year we hear from our customers that stings resulted in a need for medical treatment, even for those who are not allergic
At all seasons we use an integrative approach to yellow jacket management. Our approach quickly eliminates the nest and a lasting insecticide prevents returning workers from rebuilding.
We welcome your questions about yellow jackets whether you would like us to treat the nest for you, or after you’ve tried yourself.
